Training program
The summer program runs for a 10 week period in our New Haven office. During this time you can expect to visit all of the three US offices, in addition to a two week visit to our London office.
Concentrated exposure and training
Your work is set to ensure that you receive concentrated exposure and training within the three core areas of Wealth Planning: Funds, Investments, Tax and Trusts, Family and Business and International. With strong and growing Commercial, Litigation and Real Estate practices, some exposure in these fields may also be possible.
Summer Associates should anticipate receiving work usually given to first year associates. This might include technical research projects, drafting, planning documents and memoranda for clients, and involvement in a variety of transactions for high net worth individuals with some client contact.
Training and development is high on the Firm's agenda and summer associates are invited to attend our firmwide training sessions (which are often conducted on a global basis via videoconferencing). Furthermore, we run a series of seminars specifically for our summer associates including sessions on US income tax, corporate structuring, cross border planning and US estate and gift tax planning.
The London Experience
The nature of our client's need is often internationally complex; for this reason the Firm is structured into global practice groups to ensure we can solve issues across time zones and legal jurisdictions. We feel it is very important for our summer associates to experience our London office and meet our US team based in London. All summer associates spend two weeks in the London office working closely with the US team based there to gain a better understanding of the international nature of our practice.
Social Life
The active social life after hours will enable you to get to know the Firm on a more personal level and you will be invited to attend a number of social events throughout the summer.
